The Old Guard

There isn’t a lot of reading material regarding the Old Guard, but I am sharing some general information I’ve found out about it. This information seems to be pretty common in the BDSM community.
The old guard basically started in the mid to late 1950s after WWII (1939-1945). This was a time that there would be very few women in the service so it would be only men, and bonding in stressful situations. The military would be the place where these men learned discipline, which was highly valued and still is. Some of those who came out of the Military after the war organized biker gangs, and there was a group of them that organized the leather community in the United States.
In the scene women and heterosexual males weren’t allowed to be part, which can be interpreted in many different ways. I’ve found people of the generation when the Old Guard was founded believe in play, and are very hard to persuade to change. I don’t believe that the BDSM community in the United States was founded solely in discipline, after the war people wanted to play, which is what happened when biker gangs become more prominent. It may have taken years to totally organize, and gather those who they had created a brotherhood.
The leather scene was different around the country so it is IMPOSSIBLE to say that it was the same around the country, and there is no one way to interpret what happened after WWII.
